Well-known economist and demographer.

She began her career and research process in 1971 at D.S. Korotchenko Kyiv Institute of National Economy, has passed the way from the position of senior engineer to the head of the department in the Council for the Study of Productive Forces of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

In the period from 2000 to 2005 she was working as a scientific consultant to the President of Ukraine. In 2003, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine decided to approve the position of the Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Demography and Social Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, established by it together with Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine S.I Pirozhkov, and since 2007 she has been the director.

In 2002, by the Decree of the President of Ukraine, he was awarded the title of Honored Economist of Ukraine. The same year she was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, majoring in labor economics. In April 2009, she was elected an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, majoring in socioeconomics, and approved as an academician-secretary of the Department of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

She has headed many working groups on the preparation of thematic reports, is a regular co-author of reports on human development in Ukraine, which are prepared under the auspices of the UN. She is the author of the creation of an original methodology for measuring human development at the region level, which has received official status and is used by the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine for annual calculations. She was the head of the working group and the co-author of the Concept and Strategy of Demographic Development of Ukraine until 2015.

She has more than 200 scientific papers published in domestic and international publications, of which more than 30 - in specialized publications of the UN, World Bank, UNICEF, ILO and other influential international organizations.

She was awarded the Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2003), the Certificate of Appreciation of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2004), the Order of Princess Olga III degree (2009), the Order of Princess Olga II degree (2013).

In 1971 she graduated from the . D.S. Korotchenko Kyiv Institute of National Economy.
